Manchester City Council wants to build on people's pride in their communities and our city, helping them to improve and celebrate life in their neighbourhoods, so 2009 will see the launch of "Proud of " Manchester. A joint approach, it'll take some of the more successful elements of campaigns such as Respect Action Weeks and 100 Days, to make lasting improvements in our communities.

We'll be adding lots more content and features to the website in the coming days, so do check back here regularly for all the latest news and events.

Manchester Carbon Innovation Fund – now open for applications!

Manchester City Council has launched a new £1 million Manchester Carbon Innovation Fund for environmental projects in the city. We are now looking for Manchester groups with exciting ideas for projects that will show the benefits of taking action to tackle climate change and will encourage others to act.

Parkwood Environmental Education and Orienteering Day

60 children and adults took part in a day of educational activities including studying trees, wildlife, and learning about adaptation and changes climate change will cause for animals. Activities were taken from the new environmental education pack produced by the City Council. The event led to plans to hold another session in the future for other schools, and fed into long term plans for Parkwood.
