The Environment
Energy
Energy is vital to our health, well-being and economic growth. It heats our homes, powers our streetlights, enables us to travel and is the backbone to our economic prosperity. Without energy Manchester would be a very different place.
However, carbon emissions from energy that is generated from fossil fuels (ie coal, oil and gas) contribute to climate change. These emissions cause harm - not just to our environment, but also to Manchester's economy and the health of everyone who lives here.
Using renewable energy (ie: from the sun and the wind), insulating our buildings and using energy efficiency appliances are all ways of cutting carbon emissions and reducing climate change.
